Freelance Illustration

 

Part of setting up my career as a freelance illustrator I created my own original series called 'My Deer Friend' based around two Deer's who develop a close friendship, the illustrations feature an autumn aesthetic set in a fictional Victorian woodland world.

 

When creating my art for this series i wanted to recreate the vintage idyllic feel of old illustrations i grew up with like those of the Beatrix Potter books and from the classic book 'The Wind in The Willows'. Another visual inspiration was the Sylvanian Families series; i found looking at the design of the dolls and their houses helped with conceptualising the minimalism of detail of my art.

I took this opportunity as a freelance illustrator to refine my art style, my choice of style is to overall work line-less unless it's needed to define details such a folds in clothing and use shapes to create the illustrations.
